Hexarelin

Scientific Profile

Hexarelin (His-D-2-Me-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue derived from the GHRP-6 scaffold. In vitro studies demonstrate high affinity binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor GHS-R1a, activating phospholipase C signaling in the same manner as the other GHRPs. The 2-methyl substitution on the D-tryptophan residue distinguishes it from GHRP-6 and increases metabolic stability.

Animal research additionally reports binding to CD36 in cardiac tissue, a receptor interaction independent of the GH axis. Its D-amino acid content confers resistance to enzymatic degradation.
