DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)
Scientific Profile
DSIP is a nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) originally isolated from the cerebral venous blood of sleeping rabbits. Animal research demonstrates its ability to induce delta-wave sleep patterns and modulate circadian rhythms.
The peptide appears to interact with multiple neurotransmitter systems, including GABAergic and serotonergic pathways. Studies suggest DSIP may exhibit neuroprotective properties and modulate stress response systems through hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis regulation.
